Instructions for Custom Domain

Jason 3 months ago • updated by Max Kamyshev 3 months ago 7

I've followed the instructions from a previous thread to add the KB to a custom sub domain but the sub is just leading to a Flowlu 404.

I've tried both the root domain and the subdomain in the KB settings and neither works.

Are there detailed instructions for this?

Hello Jason,

We are working on our KB now. Sorry...

There is part or article about custom domains:

Step one

  1. Sign in to your domain registrar's control panel.
  2. Look for the option to change DNS records.

The option might be called something like DNS Management, Name Server Management, or Advanced Settings.

  3. Locate the CNAME records for your domain.

A CNAME record, or Canonical Name record, is a type of alias used by the Domain Name System (DNS). Among other things, a CNAME record can be used to make a domain an alias of an external website.

  4. Point the CNAME record from your domain (shown in the Host Record field) to hc.flowlu.com

Step two

Open the Knowledge Base settings form, check Change domain name for the knowledge base, and enter your custom domain name.

I did all of that days ago based on instruction in a previous post and I receive the 404 - https://www.screencast.com/t/HySR45p6N

could you mark in the Base settings checkbox - External Access under description textarea

Perfect. Worked right away. Thanks

Is there a way to require a login account for the custom domain or make it password protected?

Any ideas on how to protect the KB?

Hello Jason!

The KB has only to conditions: external access enabled and external access deactivated. If you want to protect the KB you have to disable external access to it.
